Be Amazed at these Top 15 STRANGEST Hybrid Fruits! Blood Limes – “Blood Limes” sound like the title of a slasher film set on a citrus farm, or maybe something Edward Cullen would enjoy a slice of in a martini. Rangpur or Kassia Lime – Next we have another citrus hybrid, the rangpur or Kassia Lime. Orangelo – The orangelo —not to be confused with orange Jello—is a combination of orange and grapefruit. Ugli Fruit – When I think of ugly fruit, I think of that orange I found covered in mold at the back of my fridge one time. Tangelo – Because I’m so great at rhyming, our next strange hybrid fruit is the tangelo—okay, the second half of it rhymes.

Jostaberry – Never heard of the jostaberry? Neither had I, probably because it hasn’t been harvested on a commercial scale in more than three decades. Peacotum – No, the peacotum is not the latest winter look from Paris. Oroblanco – With its green-and-white color scheme (green on the outside and white on the inside), the oroblanco – looks like a bleached lime, but is actually a pomelo/lime mix. Lemonimes – Sometimes I wonder where Sprite and 7-Up come from. It turns out, there is a tree that grows a lemon-lime flavored fruit, the lemonime. Pineberry – If I had to guess what a pineberry was, I’d probably think it was a cross between a pine tree and some sort of berry, but I’d be wrong. Tayberry – A combination of blackberry and red raspberry, the tayberry is not something you see often in the produce aisle. Mandarinquat – Mandarinquat doesn’t just roll off the tongue like kumquat, but it is a combination of the mandarin and kumquat. Limequat – I’m on a quat-kick right now. No, I’m not working on my quads, I’m talking about fruits that end in quat. Pluots or Plumcots ,- On first glance, the pluot, or plumcot, looks a lot like a regular plum. Lemato – Sometimes I say to myself, “Lemons and tomatoes just aren’t acidic enough on their own, I’d like to mix them together!” Okay, I don’t say that because they’re both really acidic fruits.
