Recipe
For the flapjack..
150g oats
100g demerara sugar
100g Golden Syrup
100g cold butter, chopped
Pinch of salt
50g plain flour
50g salted crisps (potato chips)
For the caramel...
75g cater sugar
50ml double cream
25g unsalted butter
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt
Toppings...
Chocolate ganache or melted chocolate, caramel
pretzels, crisps, Crispy M&Ms, or whatever treats you like!

Flapjacks are probably the most innocent bake on the planet, easy enough for kids to make, sweet enough to hit the spot, oaty enough to take the naughty edge off and in most British kids lunchboxes, certainly throughout my childhood! But I’m a grown up now (apparently) and the flapjack needs to grow up too and grow some cojones!
